The facade is located on Legazpi street, in the Guipuzcoana town of Zumárraga. The building - from the 70s - needed refurbishment of its facade. The builders took this opportunity to improve the building's thermal efficiency by applying a ventilated ceramic facade solution. Since only exterior work was needed, the insulation could be installed without affecting the normal use of the dwellings.
In addition to the improvement in energy efficiency offered by the insulation, the heat dissipation effect from the ventilation chamber is particularly noteworthy on the renovated southeast-facing facade. Special attention was also given to the window dressings, which were also refurbished with a ventilated facade. Once again, externally installed insulation assures that thermal bridges are absent, despite the small amount of space for lining these areas.
Keraben's Lava collection was chosen as part of the solution described above - in 100x50 size and grey and graphite colours - as specified by Bilbu Lagorei. This collection faithfully reproduces the appearance of volcanic basalt, characterised by its subtle grain - with all the advantages for exterior use offered by Keraben porcelain tiles.
